Cellular Reprogramming with Small Molecules

Published 2023-07-19

In a recent publication by Prof. David Sinclair from Harvard Medical School, his team identified chemical means to achieve cellular reprogramming to a more youthful state. Rather than the traditional combination of Yamanka transcription factors, this study identified six chemical cocktails with the ability to convert adult cells to a pluripotent state. This technique does not require genetic reprogramming of cells but rather a chemical modulation of cellular aging related transcription factors and pathways. The next step will be to prove the concept in preclinical models.
